Vornado BXR STD / HD Troubleshooting Guide
Many operating behaviors that may seem unusual at first are part of normal operation. Please review the information below before contacting Customer Support.
| PROBLEM | POSSIBLE CAUSE AND SOLUTION |

| Unit does not remember the last speed after being unplugged. | This is normal. When unplugged, the fan returns to the factory default speed setting (Medium) the next time it is powered on. |
| Unit remembers the last speed after being turned off with Power button. | This is normal. If turned off using the Power button, the fan may remember the last selected speed. |
| Fan briefly starts on High speed, then changes to another speed. | This is normal. The motor may briefly start at High speed for less than one second before returning to the saved speed setting. |
| Unit starts on Medium speed after being unplugged. | This is normal. Medium speed is the default startup setting after power has been disconnected. |
| Speed increases one level at a time. | This is normal. Pressing the + button increases speed from Low to Medium to High. |
| Speed decreases one level at a time. | This is normal. Pressing the - button decreases speed from High to Medium to Low. |
| Speed does not cycle from High back to Low. | This is normal. Speed settings stop at the highest and lowest levels and do not loop. |
| Speed buttons do not respond when unit is off. | This is normal. Speed controls are disabled when the unit is powered off. Turn the unit on first. |
| Buttons seem slow to respond. | Press each button firmly once and allow a brief moment for the unit to react. |
| Unit will not operate normally. | Turn the unit off, unplug for 30 seconds, reconnect power, and restart. |
When to Contact Customer Support
Contact Customer Support if:
- The unit will not power on
- Speed settings do not change at all
- Buttons do not respond while the unit is powered on
- Startup behavior changes dramatically from normal use
- You notice unusual odor, smoke, overheating, sparking, visible damage, or any safety concern
Helpful Tip
If you prefer a specific speed, wait for startup to complete, then adjust to your desired setting.
