Vornado 279TR Troubleshooting Guide
Many operating behaviors that may seem unusual at first are part of normal operation. Please review the information below before contacting Customer Support.
| PROBLEM | POSSIBLE CAUSE AND SOLUTION |

| Unit will not turn on. | Ensure the unit is plugged into a working outlet. Press the Power button once firmly. |
| Unit returns to previous settings when turned back on. | This is normal. The product may remember the last used settings such as speed or timer selections. |
| Speed changes one level at a time. | This is normal. Speed increases or decreases step-by-step with each button press. |
| Speed will not go higher or lower past limits. | This is normal. Speed stops at the highest and lowest settings and does not continue cycling. |
| Display lights change when settings are adjusted. | This is normal. Indicator lights update to reflect current speed or timer settings. |
| Timer increases one hour at a time. | This is normal. Each press of the timer button increases the timer step-by-step. |
| Timer returns to off after the highest setting. | This is normal. After the maximum timer setting is reached, the next press turns the timer off. |
| Display switches between timer and speed views. | This is normal. The display may temporarily show timer settings, then return to the main speed display. |
| Lights flash briefly during changes. | This is normal. Lights may blink or change momentarily while settings are being adjusted. |
| Buttons seem slow to respond. | This is normal. A brief delay may occur between button press and product response. Press once and allow a moment for the unit to react. |
| Remote does not respond. | Move closer to the unit and point the remote directly toward the product. Remove any objects blocking the signal path. |
| Remote changes settings one step at a time. | This is normal. The remote mirrors the product controls and changes settings one level at a time. |
| Unit will not operate normally. | Turn the unit off, unplug for 30 seconds, reconnect power, and restart. |
When to Contact Customer Support
Contact Customer Support if:
- The product does not turn on or off
- Buttons do not change speed or timer settings
- Display lights do not respond at all
- The product cannot maintain or return to settings
- Remote fails to operate the unit at close range with clear positioning
- You notice unusual odor, smoke, overheating, sparking, visible damage, or any safety concern
Helpful Tip
Press buttons once using a steady press-and-release motion and allow a moment for the display to update after each change.
